The Community Based Rehabilitation services of SCAD Nirman have been considered as one of the key interventions of the Rural Development Division which render services at the doorsteps of the differently abled persons.
SCAD Nirman’s CBR program has delivered 40 mobile camps and has visited 234 villages addressing various problems of differently abled persons. The key interventions of the program include assessment camps, ortho camps, parents’ orientation trainings, training for pregnant mothers, corrective surgery and the like.
Students from Vives Institute, Belgium and Thomas More Institute, Belgium (Occupational therapists, Speech therapist, Physiotherapists, Special Educators, Ortho technicians and Nutritional specialists) and also the student volunteers from other countries who come to SCAD Nirman for internship attend the CBR camps and offer their services to the differently abled persons.
SCAD Nirman’s CBR mobile camps has intervened in the lives of more and more differently abled persons and appropriately manufactured aids and appliances have been given to the needy. They have been provided with more than 50 aids and appliances like corner chairs, artificial limbs, wheel chairs, cock-up splint, spinal orthosis, knee splint, standing devices, ankle foot orthosis, knee ankle foot orthosis, crutches, cervical collar and finger-loop splint.
The beneficiaries have been closely followed up by the staff of SCAD Nirman’s CBR team who have given continuous counselling to use the aids and appliances. They are also encouraged to make use of the various inputs given during various levels of trainings.
