The focus of a health related activity is to prevent and manage diseases and other physical and mental health conditions through the promotion of healthy behaviour in the community and the environment. Promoting health, including the reduction of health inequalities and generating and disseminating health information and knowledge, helps in aligning future health. Many diseases are preventable through simple, non-medical methods, like hand washing with soap which prevents many contagious diseases.
SCAD-Nirman intervened in health related activities in response to the growing concern over emerging health challenges, in villages. Informing, educating, and empowering people on health issues and promoting healthy behaviours through health camps and trainings has been the focus of SCAD-Nirman.
Prevention is better than cure. SCAD-Nirman aims to provide basic medical care to the economically poor people, on both curative and preventive measures; but with the main focus on preventive measures. Camps and trainings are provided as a path to improved health and well-being, to help communities eat healthier, move more, and learn the science behind medical topics like nutrition, care of the eyes and teeth. In partnership with doctors and nutrition experts, we educate mothers to nurture a happier and healthier generation, by reducing birth defects and developmental disabilities.
